Light Shows Overview

Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens borders Mt Coot-tha Forest, a 1,600-ha bushland reserve with 370 wildlife species and 450 native plant species, including rare and threatened species.

Introducing 2,400 patrons for commercial light and sound shows, for potentially the next ten years, contradicts the purpose of a Botanic Garden. However, Brisbane City Council approved this application in July 2023.

There are threats to the wildlife habitat with the infrastructure required and increased roadkill of threatened and vulnerable wildlife due to substantially increased traffic.

It is time to put a stop to this proposal and preserve Mt Coot-tha as a haven for flora, fauna and nature lovers.

Mt Coot-tha Protection Alliance Inc is dedicated to looking after Mt Coot-tha and the interests of the people who love Mt Coot-tha.
