How to become a member
  1. Read the Association’s Rules.
  2. Complete the online Membership Application Form below.
  3. Pay the membership fee – note that memberships are not active until the membership application form has been completed, payment is received and membership is approved by the committee.

Members do not have to re-apply for membership each year. To retain your status as a financial member you simply need to pay the $30 annual fee.

Financial members can vote at the AGM, usually in February (MCPA Financial year is from 1 September – 31 August).

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION FORM

Members should be aware that Mt Coot-tha Protection Alliance does not provide public liability insurance and therefore the obligation resides on all members to indemnify themselves against personal injury and damage to their property. Members undertaking activities for Mt Coot-tha Protection Alliance are to act lawfully at all times, including complying with Local Authority bylaws.

The objectives of the association are—

  1. To promote the protection and enhancement of environmental, recreational, educational, cultural, heritage, social and scenic values of the Mt Coot-tha precinct, including the Mt Coot-tha Trust Lands, Mt Coot-tha Forest, Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, and surrounding public lands.
  2. To consider the likely impacts of climate change in promoting the protection and enhancement of those values stated in object 1 above.
  3. To mobilise community engagement and political support in pursuit of the protection and enhancement of those values stated in object 1 above.
  4. To oppose activities, uses and developments that degrade or threaten those values stated in object 1 above.

I hereby apply for ordinary membership of the Mt Coot-tha Protection Alliance Inc and by signing this document agree to abide by the Rules of MCPA Inc. I have read the objectives and Rules of the association and agree to adhere to the stated aims. Any activity deemed by the committee to be not aligned with the objectives will result in refusal of, or cancellation of, membership.
